Introductory Certificate in Working with Children

 

DETAILS

This course is ideal for people who are interested in a career in childcare, education or playwork with children aged 0 – 8 years.  The course introduces the principles of high quality childcare including providing a safe, stimulating environment for children, working as part of a team, promoting equality of opportunity in support of children’s development and play activities for children.

 

ASSESSMENT

Students complete a portfolio containing notes and worksheets from class discussions and a logbook reflecting on their experiences in placement.

Students should complete a minimum of 12 hours placement in a childcare setting.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Participants should be willing to contribute to class discussions and activities and complete a 12 hour placement in an childcare setting.

 

COURSE MATERIALS

Ring Binder and Paper.

 

DURATION

24hours. (2hrs X 12weeks)

Plus 12 hours in placement.

NQF Level 2 Courses

eg Certificate in Playwork.

Classroom Assistants Stage 1 – 2.

NVQ Early Years Care & Education Level 2.

 

SUGGESTED COMPLEMENTARY STUDIES

Basic First Aid.

Basic Food Hygiene.

 

QUALIFICATION GAINED

NCFE   INTRODUCTORY CERTIFICATE IN WORKING WITH CHILDREN
