DETAILS
This
course is designed for people working in childcare settings (paid or voluntary)
e.g. playgroup workers, nursery assistants, childminders, classroom assistants
or support assistants, for a minimum of 12 hours per week, who would like to
gain a recognised qualification by doing the job rather than completing an
intensive study course. The course covers the knowledge and understanding
required to meet the needs of children aged 0-8 years including; physical,
social, intellectual, and communication development, child protection, planning,
equipping and evaluating learning environments and assessing children's
learning.
ASSESSMENT
To
successfully complete the course students must produce a portfolio containing
evidence of their ability to carry out all aspects of their work competently and
consistently. This will include records of relevant experiences on placement,
short assignments, practical tasks and observations and assessments carried out
in their workplace by their personal assessor.
ENTRY
REQUIREMENTS
A sound
knowledge of English and Maths is required to work with children in an education
setting.
Students
must be working (either paid or voluntary) with children under 8 years of age
for a minimum of 12 hours per week for the duration of the course.
Minimum
age 21.
