Students will study Law in an all round context. Areas covered are:

 

The English Legal System

Contract Law

Tort Law

Criminal Law

Family Law

European Law

Constitutional Law

Consumer Protection Law

Employment Law

Employment Issues including Sex and Race discrimination

Unfair Dismissal

 

Discussions and research will be around actual case studies and current events. Students will participate in mock trials held in class.

 

ASSESSMENT

A 2 hour exam (80%) PLUS 2 pieces of

Coursework (20%)

DATE OF EXAM 17 JUNE 2002

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A good level of literacy

   

COURSE MATERIAL

Writing materials. Text book as advised by tutor.

 

DURATION

32 weeks at 2 ½ hours class time, PLUS 1 hour coursework session.  Students should also undertake a minimum of 2 hours individual study.
