DETAILS
Students
study the personal, social, environmental, economic and technological aspects of
human biology. The course will include practical work, discussion and videos.
Three
themes are covered:

Relations
between man and other organisms |

(including drug use and abuse, the effects of
pollution, how disease is spread)

Organisation
and Maintenance of the Individual |
 |
(including respiration, nutrition, blood groups,
hormonal control)

Reproduction,
Growth and Development |

(including pregnancy, cancer, genetic engineering)

This
course is a suitable preparation for careers which require a knowledge and
understanding of Human Biology and its related skills, and will provide a
suitable foundation for further studies in Biology and the sciences.

COURSE
MATERIALS
Writing
materials. Text book as advised by tutor.
DURATION
32 weeks at 2 1/2
hours class time, PLUS 1 hour coursework session. Students should also
undertake a minimum of two hours personal study.
