DETAILS

Students learn to:

Use the vocabulary and grammar of standard English

Express ideas

Adapt speech to different circumstances and demands

Explain, describe, narrate, analyse, imagine, discuss, argue and persuade.

 Use compositional and presentational skills

 

This syllabus is complemented by English Literature GCSE.

 

ASSESSMENT

2 written exam papers of 2 hours each worth 30%

Coursework (including oral work) worth 40%

 

DATE OF EXAMS 30 MAY, 10 JUNE 2002

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A good level of literacy.

 

 

COURSE MATERIALS

Writing materials. Text book as advised by tutor.

 

DURATION

32 weeks at 2 ½ hours class time, PLUS 1 hour coursework session.  Students should also undertake a minimum of 2 hours individual study.
