DETAILS
This
course is ideal for people who are interested in developing the skills required
to work in the classroom as a volunteer helper or paid worker.
The course is suitable for those new to the classroom environment, as
well as those with some experience of working in the school setting.
Throughout
the course students will develop a greater understanding of the role of the
classroom assistant within the school system. Topics covered include, The
National Curriculum, Managing Children's Behaviour, Supporting Literacy and
Numeracy, Displaying Children's Work and Confidentiality.
ASSESSMENT
Students
are assessed on a completed portfolio containing notes from class discussions
and a logbook reflecting on their experiences on placement.
ENTRY
REQUIREMENTS
There
are no formal entry requirements for this course. Participants will be required
to make notes in class and record their experiences on placement and must be
willing to arrange and complete a minimum 10-hour placement in a school of their
choice.
