Principles and Values

As a childcare worker you should be aware of The Early Years Care and Education and the Playwork sector principles and values.

Briefly they are:

The needs or the wishes of the young person or child should always be at the centre of any provision.

The child or young person should be kept safe from harm

The child or young person should be listened to and shown respect at all times

At no time should a child or young person be physically disciplined.

Children and young people should be offered a wide variety of stimulating play opportunities.

The individuality of the child or young person should be recognised and celebrated.

Children and young people should be given 'equal opportunity' to take part in all activities.

Children and young people have the right to confidentiality.

Children and young people should be treated in a caring and considerate manner.
