DETAILS

Students will study the normal, healthy development of children, from conception to the age of five. There are four units.

 

 Social, Emotional and Intellectual Development

 Feeding Behaviour and Nutrition

Physical Development

 Learning and Play

 

ASSESSMENT

One 2 hour exam (50%)

Coursework (50%). This will be an investigation based on six visits over two terms of a child aged five or under at the time of the last visit. The coursework incorporates the production of an item (for example a toy) for the child studied.

 

DATE OF EXAM 27 JUNE 2002

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A good level of literacy

 

COURSE MATERIALS

Writing materials. Text book as advised by tutor.

 

DURATION

32 weeks at 2 ½ hours class time, plus a 1 hour coursework session. Students should also undertake a minimum of 2 hours individual study.

 

PROGRESSION

Other GCSE’s , A levels.
