The course introduces students to the principles of major business functions:

 

The Business Environment

    (The economic environment, the structure of the labour market)

Business Structure and Organisation

    (Sole traders, Partnerships, The Public Sector)

 Business Behaviour

    (Production, Marketing, Promotion, Distribution, The Stock Exchange)

People and Business

    (Recruitment, Wage Determination, Industrial Relations)

Aiding and Controlling Business Activity

    (International Trade, Exchange Rates, Money and Banking, Public

    Finance).

 

ASSESSMENT

One 2 hour paper (75%)

Coursework (25%)

DATE OF EXAM 18 JUNE

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A good level of literacy.

 

COURSE MATERIALS

Writing materials. Text book as advised by tutor.

 

DURATION

32 weeks at 2 ½ hours class time. Students should also undertake a minimum of 2 hours individual study.
